The Urabe-Myers Family

Don and Donny is an alternate lifestyle couple who have been together 15 years.  They always wanted to parent a child.  While attending the Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education training, they were encouraged to keep an open mind about the age, gender, and ethnic background of the child. 

To their delight and surprise, a three-month-old little girl, Madison, was placed with them shortly after their home was approved.  Donny said they were “terrified” at first about having a baby, but taking care of her seemed to come naturally.

It took over two and a half years for Maddie’s adoption to come to fruition; strong hearts and patience were needed during that time.  Maddie is now four years old and amazing.  She is bright, happy and cute as can be.  Maddie has four siblings who were adopted by another family.  The children see each other regularly.  Don and Donny said, “having Maddie has brought us the greatest joy and a big extended family.”  Maddie is happy they are her “Papa” and “Daddy.”  Don and Donny love being Maddie’s parents.
